Noise policy has close links to other environmental areas and our Scottish Noise Advisory Group (SNAG) covers issues such as the effects of noise on human health, anti-social behaviour, planning, noise nuisance, the implementation of the European Noise Directive to mitigate transport noise and to protect quiet areas.
Currently SNAG is focussing on developing best practice to manage neighbourhood noise, developing a policy that will ensure that the impacts of renewable energy infrastructure are minimised e.g. domestic wind turbines and air-source heat pumps.
The current Chair of SNAG is Steve Williamson.
The Group have produced a general Noise leaflet. It’s purpose is intended to provide an overview of noise, its policy context and relevant links to regulations.
The leaflet is copyrighted however, EPS is happy for it to be reproduced by non-commercial users, in full or part, provided EPS is cited as the author. Feedback is welcome as we will review their format and content annually to ensure they meet the needs of our members and legislation information is up to date.
