EPS will continue to highlight best practice and positive actions being taken to minimise noise nuisance and noise pollution. We want all local authorities, contractors and organisations to submit and share best practice through us – we’ll then highlight it on our website, our twitter feed and our newsletter. We will also be passing this information on to the Scottish Government so they can report back to Europe what Scotland is doing to reduce unwanted noise.
If you want the rest of Scotland to know what your organisation is doing then please e-mail admin@ep-scotland.org.uk
Noise Win of the month January 2016 – Edinburgh City Council
Edinburgh City Council has placed noise notices on glass recycling bins to inform the public where they can seek advice on any noise issues arising from their collection. The noise team at ECC can suggest altering the timing of collections and locations of the bins to reduce any impacts on local residents. So far the number of compliants have been low and the notices are a success in that they provide people with an avenue to pursue any noise issues they have with this service – definitely a Noise Win.
Noise Win of the month 2015 – South Lanarkshire Council
The first noise win of the month goes to South Lanarkshire Council. David Duffy has been in touch to highlight the work going on to raise awareness of noise. A series of postcards and posters have been developed that draw attention to the out of hours team. David will be more than happy to chat to anybody about these posters and the work they are doing so please contact David directly and remember if you’re going to use these posters please make sure you acknowledge South Lanarkshire Council.
