Iain has eight years environmental policy experience, and graduated from the University of the West of Scotland with an environmental chemistry PhD entitled “Managing human impacts on forest ecosystems: a chromatographic and statistical analysis in the development of a collaborative risk assessment”. As policy officer for both UK and Scottish third sector organisations, he was responsible for the growth of the organisations and worked closely with key stakeholders through establishing Expert Advisory, producing policy documents, consultation responses and national guidance documents.
His research work has involved collaboration with microbiologists and soil scientists in North Africa, Portugal and Italy through NATO Science for Peace funding. Taking an ecosystem services approach, Iain’s current focus is on land contamination, particularly potentially toxic elements and persistent organic pollutants, and air quality with a focus on local air quality management and Particulate Matter. His research has utilised HPLC, LC-MS and ICP and has experience of method development and intra- and inter- laboratory QA/QC procedures.
Dr McLellan is a Member of the Institute of Environmental Sciences and an Associate Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and he is delighted to help advance the work of EPS through social media and communications development.
